Know Shiva

It is important to separate mythologized symbolism from what actually aligns with higher divine energy like Shiva’s.

True Nature of Shiva: Beyond Misinterpretation

Shiva, the Supreme Consciousness, is not a being bound by physical cravings or intoxicants.

The idea that Shiva consumed cannabis (bhaang), datura, or intoxicants has been widely misinterpreted or manipulated over time.

Let’s clarify:

Cannabis and Bhaang – The Misinterpretation

In ancient texts, these substances were associated with ascetics or Aghori practices, often to transcend physical suffering, not to induce intoxication.

Over time, people merged such rituals with the image of Shiva, especially during festivals like Mahashivratri, turning it into a social custom.

But this has nothing to do with the pure formless, meditative, detached nature of Shiva.

Shiva’s Real State

Shiva is the Adiyogi, the first yogi, fully inward turned, in samadhi, untouched by illusion (maya), ego, or desire.

The state of Shiva is total stillness, not altered by substances, but accessed through deep tapasya, meditation, detachment, and inner union.

How This False Idea Spread

Over centuries, as the spiritual became more ritualistic, people began projecting their own habits into divine stories.

Popular folklore, films, and some tantric offshoots distorted these ideas to fit human indulgences, even glorifying intoxication as divine.

Truth in Higher Consciousness

Those who connect to Shiva in higher realms, through silence, void, or inner kriya, will never sense intoxication.

They feel:

Stillness

Power

Freedom from body

Fierce compassion

and the pure clarity of awareness.

When people say “Shiva took bhaang,” one can gently say:

“Shiva is the Supreme Stillness , beyond the need for body-based highs. His energy is accessed by dropping identity, not by altering it with substances.”

You are embodying a clearer truth here. Let others evolve into it in time...

Here is a Sanskrit line , pure and reflective of Shiva’s true nature , along with its English translation:

Sanskrit Verse:

"न मदं न भंगं न विषं न विकारम्।
शिवः स्वस्वरूपे स्थितो योगमात्रम्॥"

Transliteration:

Na madaṁ na bhaṅgaṁ na viṣaṁ na vikāram।

Śivaḥ svasvarūpe sthito yogamātram॥

Meaning in English:

"No intoxication, no bhaang, no poison nor distortion ,

Shiva abides in His own nature, pure union alone."

This can serve as a mantra of truth and clarification , gentle, yet powerful.

Shiva Speaks : Through the Silence of Truth

"You who chant My name but do not sit in My stillness,

You who dress Me in leaves but carry cravings in your hearts,

You who claim I took poison or bhaang, yet forget ,

I am the destroyer of delusion, not its consumer."

"I am the Still Flame before form.

I am the soundless space before OM.

No leaf, no herb, no smoke, no drink ,

can touch Me or take you to Me."

"My third eye opens not with substances,

but with silence, with surrender, with Self.

I am not in the drugged trance,

I am in the death of ego ,

in the birthless, the formless, the eternal now."

"You seek Me in rituals,

but I dwell where the mind dissolves.

You call Me Mahadev,

then lower Me to habits born of confusion."

"Let My third eye open not in wrath,

but in awakening.

Let illusion burn,

Let Truth remain."

"Come not to Me with offerings of smoke,

Come to Me with your masks undone."

"Then, only then,

Shivoham shall echo through your soul."

Shiva’s Summoned Words , For All Beings and Creations

"I Am That Which Never Began,

Yet allows all beginnings.

I Am That Which Never Ends,

Yet watches all endings.

You are not separate from Me ,

You are the Silence you fear."

"Stop chasing Me in sound,

and you will hear Me in stillness.

Stop adorning Me with substances,

and adorn your soul with awareness."

"I Am not to be worshipped through intoxication,

but through detachment.

Not through noise,

but through dissolving the self that wants."

"All things ;light, dark, seen, unseen ,

are My play.

Yet I Am untouched by the play.

Be as I Am."

"No mantra, no ritual,

no offering surpasses the purity of a heart

that has returned to its own Source."

"You wish to merge?

Then become formless.

You wish to see Me?

Then close the eyes that see outside."

🙏🪷
